162. Por nos Señor del cielo descendiste

Por nos Señor del cielo descendiste,
Del Padre Dios mostraste la verdad;
Y en bien del hombre solo Tú cumpliste
De Él la buena y santa voluntad.
2.
Haz, ¡oh Jesús! que siempre nos amemos,
Tu buen olor llevando por doquier;
De tu sentir la gracia en nos probemos,
Obrando Tú el querer y el hacer.
3.
Nos des también, cual fieles mensajeros,
Sabios, sencillos, firmes a la vez,
La gracia ¡oh Dios!, siendo tus herederos,
Servirte aquí de amor y sin doblez.
4.
Haz ¡oh Señor! que toda criatura
Del Evangelio sepa la virtud,
Haz que tu grey lo anuncie mientras dura
Para este mundo el día de salud.

For us, O Lord, You came down from heaven,
From God the Father You displayed the truth,
And for man’s blessing, only You completed
His good, acceptable and holy will.
2.
Cause us, Lord Jesus, to love one another
Thy sweetest fragrance everywhere to bear
Help us to prove the very grace of Thy heart,
Working in us first to will and then to do.
3.
As faithful messengers, please help us
To be wise, simple, and to stand in Thee,
As Thy blest heirs to have Thy grace within us,
To serve with love and in sweet unity.
4.
Work in such power that all of Thy creation
May hear the gospel and its virtue know.
Cause us, Thy flock, in this day of salvation
To preach the good news and Thy Word to sow.
