172. Tú, de la Iglesia

1.
Tú, de la Iglesia celestial Cabeza,
De tus amados divinal Señor;
Sobre tus siervos abre con largueza
Raudales puros de tu inmenso amor.
2.
Ellos al mundo tus preciados dones
Publicarán, proclamarán salud;
Dales tu gracia, da a sus corazones
Por ornamento santa rectitud.
3.
Cuando a los tuyos con amor enseñen
De tu Evangelio celestial verdad,
Su ministerio santo desempeñen,
Ardiendo el pecho en férvida piedad.
4.
Sabiduría, mansedumbre y celo
De Ti reciban y sagrada unción,
De salvar almas incansable anhelo
Y el estimable don de la oración.

Thou, heavenly Head of the church,
Divine Lord of Thy beloved people,
Pour out in abundance over Thy servants
Pure torrents of Thine immense love.
2.
They will publish Thy precious gifts to the world,
They will proclaim salvation.
Give them Thy grace, give their hearts
Holy uprightness as an ornament.
3.
When with love to Thine own
They teach the celestial truths of the gospel,
Let them carry out its holy ministry,
With hearts burning in ardent reverence.
4.
Wisdom, meekness and zeal,
May they receive from Thee, with holy anointing;
An untiring longing for souls to be saved,
And the inestimable gift of prayer.
