30. Verbo divino

Verbo divino que con Dios viviste
Desde el principio con gloria eternal;
Antes que el mundo y el cielo Tú fuiste,
Eres la ciencia por siempre inmortal.
2.
Tú que encumbrado en solio eminente,
Siempre viviste, oh Dios Creador;
En potestad y en luz preeminente,
Tú, verdad fuiste y por siempre amor.
3.
Nuestro Señor, Tú aquí te encarnaste,
Nuestra semblanza al querer tomar;
Y nos mostrabas con tan gran contraste
Gracias de Dios en este vil lugar.
4.
Vida quisiste tal que en favor nuestro,
En sacrificio la pudieses dar;
Y rescatados por tu cruel muerte,
Hijos lograste a tu Dios llevar.

Since the beginning with eternal glory;
Before the world and the heavens were You;
You are the knowledge forever immortal.

You are lifted up on a lofty throne,
You always have lived, oh God the Creator;
In might and in light, You preeminent One
You have always been light and forever are love.
3.
Our Lord, You did here become flesh,
Our likeness You desired to take;
And You showed us with such great contrast
The graciousness of God in this vile place.
4.
You desired such a life for our favor,
In sacrifice You were able to give it;
And You rescued by Your cruel death,
Sons You were able to bring to Your God.
