35. De Dios Hijo eternal

1.
Tú de su corazón el perfecto placer;
Vida e inmortalidad Tú sacaste a la luz;
En gloria do tú estás, pronto a tus redimidos
Digno eres de tomar potestad y loor;
Reunidos en tu paz, los tuyos recordando
Tu cruz, tu inmolación, responden a tu amor.
1.
Of God the eternal Son, the Father’s well Beloved,
You, of His heart, the perfect pleasure.
But from eternity You had thought already
Of the earth to which You desired to descend.
2.
With the sons of men, O Lord, You found
Your delight, and so, O mystery of love!
God Himself prepared the body You did take,
In great humility You were born, oh Savior.
3.
Contemplating Lord, the wretched state
And the abyss of evil in which we were here,
You desired to die, to liberate us from sin
Which You for us did take on Yourself upon the cross.
4.
The tomb and Satan by You were conquered;
Life and immortality You brought to light;
To glory where You are, soon Your redeemed ones
You will have there, such a reward of the work of Your cross.
5.
Oh Lamb of God! Already reigning in grace,
You are worthy to receive power and praise;
Joined together in Your peace, Your own recalling
Your cross, Your sacrifice, respond to Your love.
